STOP USING PLASTIC!!

Plastic Making Our Planet Unhealthy

Plastic is making our entire PLANET and US unhealthy!

In California, we had finally made some headway and people had to bring their own bags to grocery stores or pay for plastic. Unfortunately, that law didn't apply to other types of stores such as big-box pharmacy stores (CVS, Walgreens, etc.). People still take plastic bags that are rarely recycled (less than 3%!)  and just adding to more plastic that will never biodegrade. The entire state of California has a coastline that gets polluted from various items of plastic that NEVER biodegrades!

There are huge floating islands of plastic all over the planet! They are larger than the size of Texas, and no one knows how to stop this. They are called gyres. Fish think much of this is food and it kills them because it gets stuck in their digestive systems. Then you eat the fish and it ends up in YOU!

Choosing to be More Sustainable

It may be only you and a few others who are choosing to live more sustainably. But a journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step. There are LOTS of things you can do to help rather than hurt the planet and your own health!

What can you do to live more sustainably? Begin with STOP taking plastic bags! If you are in the grocery store and they won't let you bring your bags in replace them into your shopping cart. If you came in a car, keep cardboard or your own reusable bags in the car and pack your groceries there!

Teach Your Children about the Environment

You can your child's the science teacher and set an example. There are important lessons that you can teach them about how to protect their planet into the future. That's by teaching them about plastic: what it is, where it comes from, and what happens to it when you don't need it anymore. It never biodegrades.

You know, there was a time when there was NO PLASTIC?! And the human race still went on using alternatives to plastic!

That's why I created "The Kids Kit To Save the Planet from Plastic Bags". The booklet is a great science lesson (maybe you'll learn something as well!). And then it becomes an art project for them to create their own lessons by decorating their bags. They will probably end up reminding you to bring THEIR bags whenever you go to a store! You can purchase them here.

Sustainable Mindset

Live mindfully and be aware of where you are wasting and how to become more sustainable.  You can't just throw something away when you are tired of it, or don't need it anymore. There is no "away!"

What can you donate? What can you repurpose. What material things do you REALLY need? Protect our planet by living sustainably the best way YOU can!

  • Don't waste water! Turn off the water while brushing your teeth. Don't take long showers. Don't keep the water running while washing dishes.
  • Get a GOOD Water Filter  ~ Don't wait until you hear that your water has a contaminated. Preventive medicine is the best way to keep yourself healthy, and water is a huge component of health.
  • Don't save your food in plastic! Don't cook in teflon (which is unhealthy!) The plastic leeches into your food even into micro sized pieces you don't see.
  • Reuse whenever you can ~ Recycling is generally not done (especially with plastics). If you need to use a plastic bag for your food, wash and dry it and use it again!
  • Don't make single serve coffee (Keurig) ~ Buy a stainless steel reusable device to drip your own coffee through. It will save you tons of money, lessen plastic pollution, and keep you healthier! Here's an example:  safe-keurig-reusable-cups
Example of healthy way to make Keurig coffee in reusable stainless steel cups instead of wasting plastic

Here are many ways to live more sustainably.

It's UP TO YOU to protect your health and the planet!
